Institute for Interdisciplinary Research into the Anthropocene

The Institute for Interdisciplinary Research into the Anthropocene (IIRA) is dedicated to setting a course for genuine cross curricula intellectual work in the current situation. Beyond any direct institutional or self-interested control, the IIRA purposefully connects diverse academic areas to suggest escape routes and ways out of contemporary impasses. The research task that the IIRA has set itself is to go beyond the dead ends and self-serving arguments of the present ossified moment. Research agendas and projects that only look to narrowly serve particular populations or specific social-cultural-political goals, frequently overlook and misunderstand the very ecology, nature and connections through which they exist. Research innovation is therefore vital to suggest new ways in which boxed intellectual capacities can reach across disciplinary, national and cultural barriers, and suggest the best paths forward for the future.
